Old Reports

Mossley Hill II's 94 - Merseyside Police 19 (26/04/08)

An excellent last game for Mossley Hill as the season draws to an end. MHRUFC had a strong side out which dominated most of the game. Merseyside Police could not keep up with our fit backs who scored try after try. A mention for Detrix Tomlinson who had a great game at Full Back, scoring 3 trys and converting every kick no matter how far away.

Mossley Hill II's 37 - Wallasey 10 (12/04/08)

A very good performance from MHRUFC against a strong Wallasey pack, with Hill's forwards dominating much of the game. This was highlighted by good back row play and a well deserved hat-trick from Carl Ross who played Flanker. Detrix Tomlinson had a good game at Full Back but his conversion kicking let him down on the day. Wallasey started the second half the better team which lead to a try, however Mossley Hills fitness took over with the backs running a good line and securing the game.

Mossley Hill III's 22 - Hope University 28 (12/04/08)

Despite a very strong performance from an unusual set up, MHRUFC had to compete against a much younger, fitter team. The few mistakes made by both forwards and backs proved to costly in a game where Hill could have claimed the victory. Despite this Andy Lacy who was in a new position as hooker received man of the match through his involvement in most of the defensive and attacking moves, even scoring the first try.

Mossley Hill Tour Team 0 - Boroughmuir 68 (05/04/08)

Another narrow defeat for Mossley Hill on tour in Edinburgh. Perhaps the £200 worth of beer drunk by Mossley Hill RUFC before the match was an advantage to Boroughmuir as they scored try after try. Congratulations to George Ross who ran through all 15 men to score a wonderful try under the posts, however this was disallowed for unknown reasons. Even MHRUFC's cheering fan section in the stadium, the all male virgin choirs singing, and the 18 men we had on the pitch could not aid the Hill to victory.

Mossley Hill 8 - St Edwards 14 (08/03/08)

A narrow defeat for Mossley Hill in a game that our forwards completely dominated.  Two disallowed tries, one in the last minute of the game, cost us the game.  From the start Mossley Hill dominated and a few silly mistakes and unfortunate knock-ons cost us the game.  Excellent peformances from Christian and Tosh kept us in the game.  With Eagle and Trentham left to play we look forward to the battle as we will then be back to full strength.

Ellesmere Port 17 - Mossley Hill 18 (01/03/08)

Douglas 15 - Mossley Hill 10 (09/02/08)

Mossley Hill 27 - Parkonians 7 (26/01/08)

Mossley Hill 45 - Newton le Willows 5 (05/01/08)

Trentham 41 - Mossley Hill 0 (01/12/07)

Nothing to write about.  Read Trenthams version of events here

Newton Le Willows 24 - Mossley Hill 17 (03/11/07)

In summary, a slow start in the first half cost us this game. At 12-0 down at the half Mossley Hill started to play and produced some superb rolling mauls that Newton could not compete with.  Excellent running by Rich Mould was rewarded with a try and Mossley quickly got back into the game.  The tiring Newton players were outplayed in the second half but it was all too little too late as we couldn't fight back to win the game.  We welcome the return leg and look forward to reversing he score line in our own more familiar surroundings without the experts on the sideline!!

Mossley Hill 13 - Douglas 32 (06/10/07)

Frustrating is the only word to use to describe this game.  With a stronger pack and backs we let this game slip through our own mistakes and simply errors.  The first half saw Mossley dominate with once again a silly error costing us a try.  A superb run by winger Lewis Sharpe broke 4 tackles to run the length of the pitch and score a try.  Strong running by inside centre Chris Irwin kept us in the game.  The score at the half was 13-8 to Mossley Hill.  The second half started with Irwin in a collision resulting in 12 stitches with Mossley hill seemingly unable to recover. A late tackle from the Mossley back row left us with 14 men and Douglas to their credit came back to score a succession of tries.  This was another game we should of won and the team must regroup to compete against Barnsley next week in the cup.

Prenton 11 - Mossley Hill 13 (29/09/07)

Jamie Byrne, Aaron Graham and Dio have outstanding games in this 13-11 defeat of Prenton.  From the start of the game Mossley Hill dominating at the breakdown and were able to control the pace of the game.  Some frantic decisions throughout and numerous knock ons by Prenton kept us in the game. With 4 cry offs before the game, credit goes to the lads that stepped in and playing exceptionally well.  Some excellent running by Irwin and great tackling by the backs ensured the win.  Two moments of the game that stood out for me were Rich Mould's try saving tackle with 2 minutes to play that knocked the crap out of one of the Prenton back row and Dio scoring 3 points from a penalty for the win with seconds to play.  Mossley Hill host Douglas next week, with confidence high and more players available for selection we are looking forward to this one.

Mossley Hill 47 - Ellesmere Port 3 (22/09/07)

An excellent win for Mossley Hill puts us back on track.  With the majority of 1st team players back from injury, holiday and lazyness we were able to put out a much improved team from last weeks disappointment.  With a solid pack and a change of game plan we were able to pin Ellesmere port and push forward through the game.  Excellent performances by Nick Lodge, Andy McGrory and Tony Lambert kept us moving forward, providing the backs with excellent ball to work with.  Defensively we were very strong and Ellesmere port failed to get close to our try line.  Ellesmere port seem to have lost a few of their more powerful runners and their performance on Saturday was surprising.

Mossley Hill 15 - Eagle 17 (08/09/07)

Newly promoted eagle edged the win against Mossley Hill with some silly mistakes costing us the game.  Two intercepted passes enabled Eagle to run through the Mossley defence and score in an otherwise Mossley dominated game.  With 4 props out of action this week the responsibility fell on Tony Lambert to front up and set into the front row.  Eagle had a larger pack and the pressure on the Mossley front five proved too much.  As a result we remained on the back foot and struggled to use our backs effectively.  Some excellent play by Tony Lambert, Ste Lucas, John Kitson and Christain kept us in the game with our back row playing exceptionally well.  A spirited attack in the last 10 minutes brought us back to within 2 points but it was all too little too late.  With our front row beefed up next week we will be much better prepared to face st eddies in another tough game.
